Introduction at day 158 - part I
Welcome wanderer. It is day 158 and I am here to show you where we are at! Enjoy!

Let us start with an overview of the so far explored map:
goal
The known world.

As you can see, so far, we mostly explored along a north-south elongation. This is because the eastern and western directions are limited by water. Even though it looks like there are some spots that still seem to be hidden we actually scouted and explored them. But as we replaced a map sharing mod during the course of playing, these spots turned back to look like they were still unexplored.

However, as you can also see I've tagged 4 spots, from 1 (our starting point), to 2, 3 and 4. Let's have a look at them.

Point 1: The Main Base

Point 1 is where we (or rather the game) spawned us. As that location already had a couple of (broken) buildings we started to repair and use them, extended them and built more. So over time this spot has become the main base.
goal
On the left you can see a small hall with a small comfy sleeping room. In the center you see the house from dj. It is built on top of the first building we used as shelter. He extended its outline before he added a second floor to it. The first floor now contains our most advanced crafting stations to craft and repair items.

The second floor, even though it also belongs to dj, currently contains a cartography table (at one point we might need to put it somewhere else though ^^). On the very right is a now abandoned building. Beside that, the base has several entry and exit gates, coal and smelting furnaces and everything we require at the moment.

Point 2: The Fortress

Even though this place does not really serve a purpose, I kinda started to work on it every once in a while, extended it, and finally ended up with a small fortress. It does not have much to offer beside the walls and two towers. I still like its look though.
goal
Over time I might extend it or not. The remaining points will be described in part II.
Introduction - part II.
In the first part we introduced the main base as well as the fortress. Since then we continued to play, but for now, let's finish the introduction.

The remaining points to explore are 3 and 4.

Point 3: The Port

Eventually we wanted to progress by killing The Elder. After the spawning location of The Elder was revealed on the map we tried to reach it only to find out that it spawned on a different Island. In order to get to it, we constructed another base, the port. It is a small base with a house, beds for spawning points, a small crafting station, a bee hive, a cooking station and a portal to the main base. The house itself was build by dj, while bandit brought the wood and I mostly took care of the walls.

We built two independent walls. Even though we have doubled walls on some bases, we added an extra one here. The reason behind this was, that during the construction of the base, we got attacked several times. If it was an unfortunate coincident or the proximity to the swamp, we decided to fortify this with two independent walls.
goal The Port. Coincidentally, close to The Elder, Haldor the trader spawned as well. Therefore, The Port not only allowed us to get to The Elder but also became our gateway to Haldor, the trader.

Point 4: Stone tower towards Bonemass

Even though by now I could already tell you about the newly (re-)built house from bandit, ocean adventures and more food gathering, I think we stick to point 4 for now. After we beat The Elder, we progressed and continued to play the game for a long time. Buidling boats, sailing the ocean, re-building, repairing and constructing bases, crafting, gathering raspberries, mushrooms, honey and more. We basically did everything you can do in Valheim.

After doing that for a longer time we wanted to explore and progress further. The location of the next boss, Bonemass, was already revealed to us during the exploration and cleansing of other dungeons. We didn't go there yet though. Therefore, we also did not know if Bonemass was located on the same landmass that we were on or on a completely different one. Either way, we decided to sail towards Bonemass.

In Valheim, whenever you are sailing, the biome that is adjacent to the coast "reaches" a bit out into the ocean. Therefore, only when you are very far off the coast you are in the ocean biome. Otherwise you always know at which biome you would end up if you decide to land. As we closed in on the Bonemass location, we saw that Bonemass was located in the swamp biome. The neighbouring biome was plains.

We still decided to land and have a look around. We landed on an intersection between the swamp to the plains biome. The overall terrain was hilly, with a couple rocks, trees and a small, almost completely decayed stone tower (located in the swamp biome). As it was our first encounter with the plains biome I wanted to have a short look at it. It was basically looking like you, or rather I, would imagine a plains biome. Yellow-brown, waist deep grass, moving in the wind.

Beside the landscape, I also spotted some buildings in the distance. While turning around and deciding to go back, I've heard some weird noise and ... bam dead. Well, welcome to plains biome. One of the creatures from the houses came over, attacked me and one-shot me. After killing me, it continued to attack the others. Further and more monsters joined in from all directions and tbh. I do not remember if we all died or if bandit and dj were able to retreat.
Long story short, we got there back eventually, reclaimed most of our inventory and started to reconstruct and fix the stone tower. Even though I would really like to show you an image of the completely reconstructed tower I am not able to (right now). Therefore enjoy the view on the tower how it looks before we started to restore and rebuilding it.
goal
Even though I hope I will be able to show you a picture of the fully restored tower, it is already facing destruction again But that should be the topic of the next valheim entry.
Day 220 - Project Wolf Taming (pt.II)
Beside the original plan to tell you guys and girls what the reason is why the tower already faces destruction again, I am postponing that until we actually get to the tower again.

But for now, let's have a look where we are at the moment and what we are currently doing. The day is 220 or by now even 222 and since the last entry we apparently continued to play quite a bit. To not go through all the details, let's just hop on to where we are now and that is wolves.

Beside trapping and taming (former wild) boars you can do the same with wolves. Even though the process is a bit more difficult as the wolves deal more damage when they attack. On the other side an advantage of having wolves is, that they follow you if you tell them to do so and the even fight for you.

And although it was not planned this entry leads us, more or less directly, back to the tower. Because currently we are trying to tame wolves so that they then can help us to reclaim and protect the tower. But back to the wolf taming.

As you probably know, similarly to boar taming, you have to lure the animal into an enclosure, provide food for them and then wait. Given the animal has sufficient food and you wait the required time in the (not direct) vicinity of the enclosure the animal will be tamed in the end.
goal This is our second wolf-taming-enclosure that we constructed. This time we used stoned instead of wood. The first one was actually destroyed and two wolves that were closed to be tamed with it :/, as the 'ground is shaking' event hit. The trolls attacked the enclosure and also killed the wolves. So we decided to rebuild it with a bit more robust materials.

goal The enclosure in action.

goal Last not but not least we already tamed one wolf. I named him Fenris I for now...but let's see. That's it with the update for now. We might have a bit more content in the future.
Day 260 - Bonemass
After playing for a couple ingame days more, we faced Bonemass already two more times. The last encounter led to Bonemass following us, camping and attacking the rebuilt tower so that we couldn't use the portal to travel to the tower anymore.

After considering different options we decided to sail from our port to the southern part of Bonemass's swamp. goal
Beside me dying on the tour, it kinda worked. Dj and Bandit successfully reached Bonemass swamp and started to battle him. Meanwhile ninja joined us. This was really helpful because dj and bandit fighting lured most of the enemies away from the tower. So ninja and I used the portal to go back to the tower. While ninja taking care of protection (I didn't recover my body from the trip yet), we started to build stone walls around the tower to have a safer place.

In the end dj, bandit and ninja defeated bonemass and we were able to reclaim the, almost destroyed, tower and later on were able to retrieve my body as well. Currently the tower looks like this for now, but we're probably going to reubuild and stabilize it more over time. goal

goal

With Bonemass defeated, there are currently only three more bosses to go. goal
